Beyond the Main Story
GTA games have always been defined as much by what you do between missions as by the missions themselves. GTA 6 appears to be taking this further than ever, with dozens of confirmed and expected side activities scattered across Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, and beyond. Between trailer analysis, official screenshots, and credible leaks, the picture is clear: this will be the most activity-dense open world Rockstar has ever built.
The activities below are organized by category and tagged by confidence level: CONFIRMED activities have been shown in official trailers or screenshots, LIKELY activities are based on credible leaks or strong visual evidence, and NEW TO GTA marks activities never before seen in the series.
Sports & Physical Activities
Fishing
Officially confirmed by Rockstar. Building on RDR2's fishing system but adapted for Florida's diverse waterways — freshwater, saltwater, deep-sea, and swamp fishing are all expected. Multiple fishing spots across the map.
Boxing / Cage Fighting
Visible in trailer footage. Hand-to-hand combat as a standalone activity, potentially with underground fight club elements. A returning feature last seen in GTA IV's The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Basketball
Spotted in trailer footage at outdoor courts. Returning from GTA San Andreas after being absent for two mainline entries. Expected to feature improved physics and animations.
Gym & Working Out
Characters seen exercising in trailers, and GTA San Andreas' beloved gym system appears to be returning. Potentially affects character physique and stats, though the extent of the system is unconfirmed.
Mini Golf
Official screenshots show Cal Hampton at a mini-golf course. A brand-new activity for the GTA series, perfect for Leonida's tourist-trap setting. May replace traditional golf or exist alongside it.
Pool
Jason seen playing pool with Cal at a bar in Trailer 2. A returning classic from GTA IV and San Andreas. Expect multiple bar locations with pool tables across Vice City.
Tennis
Based on trailer evidence and GTA V's existing tennis system. Leonida's country clubs and resorts make this a natural fit for the Florida setting.
Water Sports
Jet skiing confirmed in trailers. Kayaking shown in official screenshots — a new addition. Surfing, paddle boarding, and water skiing are all plausible given the coastal setting.
Water & Outdoor Activities
Scuba Diving
Visible in trailer footage. A major expansion of GTA V's underwater exploration, likely with dedicated dive sites, treasure hunting, and marine wildlife encounters across Leonida's coast and the Keys.
Kayaking
Shown in official screenshots. First-ever kayaking in a GTA game, fitting for the Everglades-inspired Grassrivers region. May include guided tours or racing events through the swamps.
Hunting
Returning from RDR2. Leonida's diverse ecosystems — swamps, forests, the Keys — provide varied hunting grounds. Wildlife confirmed includes alligators, deer, jaguars, foxes, flamingos, dolphins, and sharks.
Swimming
Standard GTA feature, but Leonida's beach-heavy setting means swimming will be more prominent than ever. Ocean swimming, pool swimming, and open-water exploration across multiple coastlines.
Dirt Biking & Off-Road Racing
Dirt bikes spotted in trailers near Mount Kalaga National Park. Off-road racing across the rural interior and national park trails is strongly expected.
Beach Activities
Given Vice City's beach culture, expect beach volleyball, sunbathing, and other coastal leisure activities. Some may be ambient world detail rather than playable mini-games.
Nightlife & Entertainment
Bars & Drinking
Multiple bar scenes in trailers show Jason, Lucia, and Cal drinking together. Interactive bars with purchasable drinks. Expect the classic GTA drunk-driving mechanic after a few too many.
Nightclubs
Vice City's nightlife scene is a core part of its identity. Trailer footage shows nightclub interiors with dancing. Likely features full club environments with music, dancing, and VIP areas — building on GTA Online's After Hours nightclub system.
Strip Clubs
Confirmed through character bios — Boobie Ike owns strip clubs across Vice City. A returning GTA staple with likely improved interactivity and integration into the criminal economy storyline.
Casino & Gambling
GTA Online's Diamond Casino was hugely popular. Given Leonida's Florida setting (where real casinos exist) and GTA V precedent, expect poker, blackjack, slot machines, and possibly dice games.
Criminal Side Activities
Robberies & Heists
Trailer 2's vault-dragging sequence confirms high-stakes robberies. Raul Bautista's character bio directly references recruiting Jason and Lucia for heist work. Expect a progression from small-time scores to massive multi-stage operations. See our Heists guide.
Drug Running & Smuggling
Jason works for drug runner Brian Heder. Smuggling via boat through the Keys is central to the story setup. Expect side missions involving product transport, boat yard operations, and coastal smuggling routes.
Property Management
A GTA classic returning in force. Leaked information suggests purchasable properties that generate income — similar to Vice City Stories' empire-building system but modernized. See our Properties guide.
Courier & Delivery Work
Leaked activity lists reference courier work and van shipments — small-time side jobs for quick cash. Likely available through in-game phone apps, mirroring real-world gig economy delivery services.
Bounty Hunting
Leaked lists include bounty hunting as a side activity. A natural evolution of RDR2's bounty system adapted for a modern crime setting — track down and capture (or eliminate) targets for cash rewards.
Vehicle Theft & Chop Shops
Stealing and selling vehicles has been a GTA staple since GTA III. Expect an updated chop shop system with vehicle delivery missions, possibly tied to a criminal contact or business property.
Random Events & World Activities
In-Game Social Media
Trailer footage shows NPCs filming your actions on smartphones. A social media system affects gameplay — viral moments can increase your wanted level or notoriety. Expect parody apps mimicking Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter.
Community Service
Spotted in trailer footage — a character doing litter cleanup, possibly as a court-ordered activity. A new and darkly humorous addition that fits Lucia's recent prison release. May be tied to the wanted/legal system.
Dynamic Weather Events
Florida is hurricane country. Leaks and speculation suggest dynamic weather events — tropical storms, flooding, and extreme weather — that affect the open world, traffic, NPC behavior, and available activities.
In-Game Arcade / Console
Trailer footage appears to show a PlayStation console inside a character's home. Playable in-game arcade machines and home gaming are strongly expected, continuing GTA V and GTA Online's arcade system.
Shopping & Customization
Hundreds of enterable shops rumored — clothing stores, tattoo parlors, barbers, car dealerships, and more. Character customization appears deeper than any previous GTA, with clothing physically reacting to wind.
Music & Recording Studio
Boobie Ike owns a recording studio, and music industry characters (Dre'Quan Priest, Real Dimez) are part of the cast. Music production or management side content is plausible — possibly as a business empire path.
Racing & Vehicles
With 200+ confirmed vehicles, racing and vehicle-based activities will be a massive part of GTA 6's side content:
Street Racing
A GTA staple. Vice City's wide boulevards and coastal highways are perfect for illegal street races. Expect multiple race types: sprint, circuit, point-to-point, and drag racing.
Boat Racing
Given Leonida's extensive coastline, the Keys, and waterway network, boat racing is almost certain. Multiple watercraft types — speedboats, jet skis, and possibly sailing.
Motocross / Off-Road
Dirt bikes seen near Mount Kalaga National Park. Off-road racing through Leonida's rural interior and trails is strongly expected.
Air Races & Flight School
Aircraft confirmed in trailers. Flight school was popular in both San Andreas and GTA V. Air races and pilot challenges across Leonida's airspace are probable.
100% Completion
Based on precedent from GTA V and RDR2, achieving 100% completion in GTA 6 will likely require completing a specific set of side activities — though not necessarily all of them. GTA V required 69 objectives for 100%, while RDR2 required 104. Given GTA 6's expanded scope, expect the 100% checklist to be the largest in franchise history.
Side activities typically required for 100% include a set number of: side missions, random events, activities (like each sport played at least once), stunt jumps, collectibles, and challenge goals. Rockstar usually provides an in-game checklist to track progress.
