The katana's appeal is reach and clean, fast strikes — in San Andreas and the Stories games it could fell a target in a single swing, and unlike the cumbersome chainsaw it was light enough to sprint with. Whether GTA 6 reproduces that one-hit lethality is unknown; Rockstar has published no melee numbers, so its in-game feel here is drawn from how the series handled it before, not from anything shown.
What We Know for GTA 6
Rockstar has not shown a katana in any GTA 6 trailer, screenshot, or official media. Its return is plausible for a different reason than most weapons, though: GTA 6 goes back to Vice City, the katana's original home, and fans have wanted it back in the HD Universe for years. That makes it a notable potential franchise callback — but wanting it and Rockstar confirming it are not the same thing, and as of now it is unconfirmed.
