GTA 6 Status — Expected, Not Confirmed
The opossum has not been shown in GTA 6 footage. It's included as expected nocturnal suburban and woodland wildlife for the Florida setting. Treat its presence as speculation.
The Real Animal
The Virginia opossum is North America's only marsupial — a slow, nocturnal, cat-sized animal common across Florida's suburbs and woods. Famous for 'playing possum' (an involuntary fear response that mimics death) and for eating large numbers of ticks, it's a familiar nighttime sight rooting through yards and roadsides.
Precedent in the GTA Series
RDR2 modelled the opossum, including its 'playing dead' behaviour, so the animal is squarely in Rockstar's toolkit. That makes a GTA 6 cameo plausible, but it's precedent only.
What Changed on This Page
Removed invented behaviour stats and 'confirmed' framing. Kept the real biology (and the RDR2 precedent) as a labelled expectation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the opossum confirmed in GTA 6?
No. It hasn't appeared in any trailer or screenshot. Its inclusion is expectation based on how common it is in real Florida.
Did Rockstar model opossums before?
Yes — RDR2 included the opossum, even its 'playing dead' behaviour, which is why a GTA 6 appearance is considered plausible.
What would it do in-game?
At most, ambient nocturnal wildlife in suburbs and woods. No mechanic has been confirmed.
