GTA 6 Audience
GTA 5 sold 200M+ copies. GTA Online had 40M+ monthly players at peak. The audience skews 18–35 with higher disposable income. GTA Online players already spend aggressively on Shark Cards and in-game items.
The key insight: GTA players spend more per person than Roblox players. GTA Online's lifetime revenue exceeds $8 billion from a much smaller user base than Roblox's. For creators selling premium content — scripts, server access, mods — the GTA ecosystem has higher willingness-to-pay.
Creator Tools & Experience
Roblox wins on tooling. Roblox Studio is mature, well-documented, and purpose-built for creating games on the Roblox platform. The publishing pipeline is seamless. If you're a beginner, Roblox is significantly easier to get started with.
FiveM development is more fragmented. You're working with Lua scripting, resource manifests, txAdmin, and a dev environment that was originally built by modders for modders. The documentation is community-maintained and uneven. The barrier to entry is higher — but the ceiling is also higher, because you have access to Rockstar's full game engine rather than a sandbox.
For GTA 6, Rockstar's creator platform (internally called Project ROME in leaks) is expected to offer more polished tooling than FiveM. The Cfx Marketplace already provides a professional storefront with reviews, analytics, and payment processing. It's likely to improve significantly for GTA 6.
Growth Trajectory
Roblox's creator economy is mature. Growth is still strong, but the best opportunities have been captured. Top Roblox games have been running for years. Breaking in requires either a novel concept or significant marketing spend.
GTA 6's creator economy is pre-launch. The Cfx Marketplace exists for FiveM, but GTA 6 will create an entirely new market. Early movers who build scripts, servers, and content in the FiveM ecosystem now will have a massive first-mover advantage when GTA 6 opens up to creators.
The Verdict: It Depends on You
If you want the easiest path to your first dollar, Roblox's mature tools and massive audience make it the safer bet. If you want the highest earning potential per hour invested, FiveM/GTA 6's revenue share and audience spending power offer a 3x advantage — with the trade-off of higher technical barriers and a not-yet-launched platform.
