GTA 6 EDITIONS

Standard, Special, or Collector's? Here's what each edition is expected to include, what they'll cost, and which one is actually worth your money.

⚠️ Editions Not Yet Announced

As of April 2026, Rockstar has not officially announced GTA 6 editions or pre-order details. Everything below is based on Rockstar's historical patterns (GTA V, RDR2), industry pricing trends, and credible speculation. This page will be updated the moment official details drop. Bookmark it.

Expected Editions

STANDARD
$69.99
  • Full single-player campaign (Jason & Lucia)
  • Access to GTA 6 Online (when it launches)
  • Pre-order bonus (likely in-game cash or vehicle)
  • No bonus GTA Online currency
  • No exclusive cosmetics
  • No physical items

The base game. Everything you need, nothing you don't. This is what 90% of players should buy.

COLLECTOR'S EDITION
$199.99–$249.99
  • Everything in Special
  • Physical collectible (statue, art print, or diorama)
  • Steelbook case
  • Printed map of Leonida
  • Exclusive in-game outfit set
  • Additional GTA Online currency

For collectors and superfans. The physical items are the real draw — RDR2's Collector's Box included a lockbox, playing cards, and a treasure map.

Pricing Analysis

The $69.99 standard price is virtually certain — it matches the current AAA standard on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated GTA 6 will deliver "more value than its cost," but hasn't confirmed a specific price. Some analysts speculated about a $79.99 or higher base price, but this seems unlikely given the backlash risk and the fact that GTA Online monetization is the real revenue driver.

For context, RDR2's Special Edition was $79.99 and its Ultimate Edition was $99.99. GTA 6's special editions will likely be priced similarly or slightly higher, reflecting inflation and the game's unprecedented scope. GTA 6 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch — Take-Two has confirmed it will be a full-price premium release.

What Rockstar Did Before

GTA V (2013) — $59.99 Standard / $149.99 Collector's

Standard edition plus a Collector's Edition with a lockbox, blueprint map, keychain, hat, and in-game content. The Special Edition ($79.99) added bonus missions and an in-game garage of vehicles.

RDR2 (2018) — $59.99 Standard / $79.99 Special / $99.99 Ultimate / $149.99 Collector's Box

Four tiers. The Collector's Box didn't include the game — you had to buy it separately. It contained physical items: a metal lockbox, challenge coins, playing cards, a printed catalog, and a treasure map. The Ultimate Edition added story mode bonuses plus Red Dead Online launch content.

Our Recommendation

For most players: Standard Edition. GTA 6's single-player campaign and Online access are identical across all editions. The bonus Online cash from special editions becomes irrelevant within weeks of playing. The game itself is the value — everything else is packaging.

For Online-first players: Special Edition. If you plan to grind GTA 6 Online from day one, the head-start cash and exclusive vehicle give you an edge in the critical first weeks when the economy is fresh and everyone is on equal footing.

For collectors: Collector's Edition. Only if you genuinely want the physical items. These editions sell out fast and often appreciate in value on the resale market. RDR2 Collector's Boxes regularly sell for $300+ sealed. If you're a GTA fan who displays gaming memorabilia, this is worth it.

When Can You Pre-Order?

Pre-orders have not yet opened as of April 2026. PlayStation database title IDs for GTA 6 have been spotted, which typically precedes store listings by weeks to months. Based on Rockstar's marketing timeline (marketing confirmed for summer 2026), pre-orders will likely open in June–August 2026 alongside Trailer 3 or a dedicated edition reveal.

When pre-orders do open, expect them to sell out fast — especially physical Collector's Editions. Digital pre-orders on PSN and Xbox Store will remain available. If you want a physical Collector's Edition, set alerts on major retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart) and be ready to act within minutes of the announcement.
