Rockstar's Most Accurate Recreation Yet
Rockstar has always drawn from real-world geography — Liberty City is New York, Los Santos is Los Angeles, and Vice City is Miami. But GTA 6 appears to take this further than ever before. Trailer analysis, official screenshots, and fan investigations have identified dozens of specific Miami and Florida landmarks recreated with striking accuracy in the fictional state of Leonida.
This isn't just cosmetic detail. By anchoring Vice City in recognizable real-world geography, Rockstar makes the world feel immediately familiar to anyone who's ever visited — or even seen photos of — South Florida. For the millions of players who've never been to Miami, GTA 6 may become their most vivid mental map of the city.
Downtown & Urban Core
🏙️ Downtown Miami → Vice City Downtown
Miami's downtown skyline along Biscayne Bay — a forest of glass-and-steel towers including the Panorama Tower (85 floors), 1000 Museum, and the Brickell Financial District. The fastest-growing urban core in the southeastern U.S.
The Vice City skyline dominates trailer footage with towering skyscrapers matching Miami's silhouette. Brickell's luxury condo towers are clearly visible, with the same waterfront positioning along an in-game Biscayne Bay equivalent.
🌴 Ocean Drive → Vice City's Neon Strip
Miami Beach's most famous street — pastel Art Deco buildings, neon signs, sidewalk cafes, and a vibrant nightlife scene. The two-lane road was widened to four lanes in real life years ago, but maintains its iconic character.
Clearly visible in both trailers. Rockstar recreated the Art Deco facades, neon lighting, and palm-lined streetscape. In an interesting detail, the in-game version shows a two-lane road — matching Ocean Drive's historic layout rather than its current configuration.
🏢 Brickell Avenue → Vice City's Financial District
Miami's "Manhattan of the South" — dense luxury condos, international banks, and rooftop pools. The 500 Brickell Condominium is one of the most recognizable buildings in the neighborhood.
Trailer footage reveals a luxury apartment and pool matching the penthouse at Tresor Tower on Miami Beach. The dense high-rise cluster along the waterfront mirrors Brickell's skyline almost exactly.
Beach & Coastal Areas
🏖️ South Beach → Vice Beach
Iconic golden sand beaches, lifeguard towers, and the Art Deco Historic District. The real South Beach stretches for about 2 miles along the Atlantic, backed by hotels and restaurants.
The trailers show wide golden beaches with colorful lifeguard stands that closely match South Beach's real ones. Beach culture — sunbathing, volleyball, crowded boardwalks — appears to be a major gameplay element.
🌉 Venetian Causeway → Vice City Causeways
A chain of artificial islands in Biscayne Bay connected by the Venetian Causeway, home to multi-million dollar mansions. The Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195) connects Miami Beach to the mainland.
Both causeways are visible in trailer drone shots. The Venetian Islands district with luxury waterfront homes is recreated. Fan analysis of the trailer confirms the causeway positions match their real-world counterparts almost exactly.
Specific Landmarks
🏟️ Kaseya Center → Vice City Arena
Florida's largest indoor arena — home of the Miami Heat. Located on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami. Hosts concerts, MMA, wrestling, and major events. Capacity: 19,600.
A lit-up arena visible in the background of Trailer 1 footage matches the Kaseya Center's shape and location. Rockstar repositioned it slightly for gameplay purposes — in-game it's visible from the main road, while the real arena is a few blocks away.
🌉 Honda Bridge → Leonida Keys Bridge
The Bahia Honda Bridge in the Florida Keys — an iconic arched bridge connecting Bahia Honda Key to Spanish Harbor Key. One of the most photographed structures in the Keys.
An arched bridge matching the Honda Bridge's design is visible in trailer footage of the Leonida Keys. This confirms the Keys as a playable area and suggests significant road infrastructure connecting the island chain.
🎨 Wynwood Arts District → Vice City Street Art
Miami's world-famous street art neighborhood, home to the Wynwood Walls. Warehouses covered in massive murals, galleries, craft breweries, and a vibrant creative scene.
Colorful murals and street art visible on warehouse buildings in trailer footage directly reference Wynwood's aesthetic. This neighborhood will likely be one of the most visually distinctive areas in the game.
Natural Landscapes
🐊 Everglades → Grassrivers
The Everglades — 1.5 million acres of subtropical wetland, home to alligators, manatees, and hundreds of bird species. Airboat tours, fishing camps, and isolated communities dot the landscape.
The "Grassrivers" region is unmistakably the Everglades. Trailer footage shows vast swamplands, airboat trails, and wildlife. Alligators are confirmed. This area provides a dramatic contrast to Vice City's urban environment.
🏝️ Florida Keys → Leonida Keys
A coral island chain stretching 120 miles from the southern tip of Florida. Known for fishing, diving, Key West, and the Overseas Highway — one of America's most scenic drives.
The Leonida Keys are confirmed as a playable region. Jason works here for Brian Heder's drug-running operation. Islands connected by bridges, beachside properties, and boat yards create a distinct sub-region within the larger map.
🏔️ State Parks → Mount Kalaga National Park
Florida is famously flat — its highest point is Britton Hill at just 345 feet. However, parks like Big Cypress National Preserve and Ocala National Forest provide dense wilderness terrain.
Rockstar appears to have taken creative license here. Mount Kalaga National Park offers elevated terrain for off-road racing and hunting. This is one area where Leonida intentionally diverges from Florida's geography for gameplay variety.
Industrial & Working-Class Areas
⚓ PortMiami → Port Gellhorn
One of the busiest ports in the U.S. — massive container operations and cruise ship terminals. The industrial waterfront with cranes and warehouses sits in stark contrast to the glamorous beachfront.
Port Gellhorn has been confirmed as a location. The industrial port district with cargo operations provides a gritty setting for missions — likely involving smuggling, heists, and dockside confrontations.
🏘️ South Miami-Dade → Leonida Suburbs
The communities south of Miami's urban core — more rural, agricultural, and working-class. Strip malls, trailer parks, and suburban sprawl characterize this area.
Trailer footage shows suburban and small-town environments outside Vice City — strip malls, motels, and residential neighborhoods that reflect the real contrast between glamorous Miami and its more modest surrounding communities.
Where Rockstar Takes Creative License
While GTA 6's Leonida is remarkably faithful to real Florida, Rockstar makes deliberate departures for gameplay purposes. Not everything in Leonida matches its real-world counterpart — and that's by design. The Kaseya Center has been repositioned for better visibility from the highway. Mount Kalaga adds elevation that flat Florida doesn't have. Vice City's layout compresses Miami's sprawl into a denser, more playable space.
This is Rockstar's signature approach: use reality as a foundation, then shape it into the best possible game world. The result is a place that feels real without being constrained by reality — a Vice City that's more Miami than Miami itself.
