About the Leonida Police Scanner
The Leonida Police Scanner is a one-of-a-kind atmospheric experience that simulates listening to Vice City Police Department dispatch frequencies. Every call is procedurally generated using data from our comprehensive GTA 6 wiki — real location names from Leonida's confirmed locations, vehicle makes and models from our vehicle database, gang territories from our gangs wiki, and more.
The scanner runs continuously, generating new dispatch calls every 8 to 20 seconds with varying priority levels, crime types, and unit assignments. Switch between four dispatch channels — VCPD Main for general patrol, Highway Patrol for vehicle pursuits, Tactical for high-priority operations, and County for rural Ambrosia County activity — each with its own flavor of calls.
How It Works
The scanner uses your browser's Web Speech Synthesis API to read dispatch calls aloud with a clipped, radio-dispatch cadence. The procedural generation engine draws from pools of over 40 locations, 30 vehicle types, 25 crime codes, and dozens of suspect descriptions to ensure no two calls are identical. Priority levels range from routine traffic stops to critical armed pursuit situations.
For the best experience, leave the scanner running in a background tab while you browse other GTA 6 content. It creates an immersive ambient atmosphere that makes Leonida feel alive months before the game launches.
The Four Channels
VCPD Main (462.950 MHz) covers general patrol dispatch across Vice City — noise complaints, petty theft, armed robberies, and suspicious persons. This is the broadest channel with the most variety.
Highway Patrol (460.275 MHz) focuses on vehicle incidents — high-speed pursuits, DUI stops, hit-and-runs along Leonida's highways. Expect to hear vehicle descriptions from our confirmed vehicle list.
Tactical (462.125 MHz) carries higher-priority traffic — SWAT deployment, gang activity, drug operations, organized crime. Calls reference known gang territories and involve multiple units.
County (453.800 MHz) monitors Ambrosia County and rural Leonida — wildlife encounters, swamp rescues, smuggling interdictions, and the occasional alligator-related incident.
Understanding Police Codes
The scanner uses a mix of real 10-codes and fictional Vice City codes. Common ones include 10-31 (crime in progress), 10-80 (vehicle pursuit), 10-71 (shooting), 10-50 (traffic accident), and 10-97 (arriving on scene). The tactical channel uses Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie designations for unit deployments.
