Overview
Boating draws on marine traversal across a state built around water, beaches and the Keys. GTA 6 is set in Leonida, Rockstar’s fictionalised Florida built around Vice City, and follows Jason and Lucia across a dense open world.
Boating has turned up in official GTA 6 material, but Rockstar has shared almost nothing about how it plays moment to moment. This page sticks to what the trailers and screenshots actually show and flags the rest as unknown.
What Rockstar Has Shown
The trailers show Leonida's waters packed with boats and a boat-workshop interior, confirming marine traversal is a core feature. That is the limit of what is confirmed: the activity exists in the world. The controls, any payouts, progression and unlocks have not been detailed by Rockstar.
How It Worked in Past GTA Games
Boats have been drivable since the earliest 3D GTA games, and GTA V added a wide range from dinghies to the Marquis yacht, plus underwater dive sites reachable by submarine. Marine traversal is long-established Rockstar territory.
Still Unconfirmed
Beyond the footage above, Rockstar has not published mechanics, payouts, challenge lists or rewards for Boating. Anything stating exact figures, named challenges or step-by-step systems for GTA 6 is speculation until the game is out. Earlier versions of this page asserted invented specifics as fact; those have been removed.
