The Franchise Lineage: Club Malibu
Vice City has form here. In the original 2002 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the Malibu Club in Vice Point was the city’s signature nightspot — a buyable asset Tommy Vercetti could acquire for $120,000 after the mission “Shakedown,” which then paid out and unlocked a string of heist setup missions. It was itself a nod to the Babylon Club from Scarface, the film Vice City is steeped in. That’s why fans seized on the trailer club’s red curtains as a possible Malibu callback.
Two honest caveats: the original Malibu sat in the older “3D Universe” continuity, so any GTA 6 appearance would be a fresh reimagining rather than a direct sequel; and the resemblance is fan speculation, unconfirmed by Rockstar. After South Beach’s Art Deco district was rescued and restored through the late 1970s and ‘80s, and Miami Vice (from 1984) beamed its neon image worldwide, the strip became a global nightlife capital — “America’s Riviera,” a magnet for clubs, models and celebrities. Miami’s identity as a party city, with the dancefloor sitting a step away from the city’s drug-money underworld, is exactly the texture a Vice City club trades on.
