Overview
This page is the companion to our fishing charter entry: where that one looks at the business, this one is about the boat — the deep-sea sportfisher with its tuna tower, outriggers and fighting chair, or the lean center-console working the flats. Neither is a confirmed GTA 6 ownable property. What makes the vessel worth its own page is that the modern sportfishing boat is, specifically and verifiably, a South Florida invention.
Honest note: Not shown by Rockstar — franchise-precedent expectation, no invented prices or income.
The Vessel as the Subject
A charter vessel is instantly readable Keys scenery: the high flybridge, the rod-bristling stern, the name painted across the transom. Rockstar’s Leonida Keys and confirmed boating make such a boat a natural part of the world. The image this page leans on is the boat itself — and its design lineage runs straight back to the Florida coast a few dozen miles north of the Keys.
GTA 6 Status — Expected, Not Confirmed
Status: Charter-vessel concept; not shown.
No ownable charter vessel or boat-business property has appeared in GTA 6 material, and Rockstar has published no property list or prices. The material below is documented real-world boatbuilding history and confirmed franchise context — any tour income, berth fee, or price attached to this idea elsewhere is fan speculation.
Charter Boats in GTA
Boats are everywhere in GTA — drivable, buyable in GTA Online, and present as scenery in every coastal map — but a dedicated tourist-charter vessel you operate for fares or tips has never been an established mechanic. The series treats boats as vehicles and the occasional mission stage, not as a working charter enterprise. So the vessel fits the world easily as something you could pilot; running it as a charter operation is the unconfirmed leap, and belongs to the same "expected, not shown" box as the business itself.
A South Florida Invention
The sportfishing boat as we picture it — a fast, seaworthy hull with a raised deck, outriggers, a tuna tower and a fighting chair in the cockpit — was largely invented at one Florida boatyard. Captain John “Pop” Rybovich, a Slovak immigrant, started a boat-repair operation on the Lake Worth waterfront in West Palm Beach around 1919, surviving the 1920s by servicing the boats of commercial fishermen and rumrunners alike. As Palm Beach’s wealthy took up sailfishing in the 1930s, the Rybovich yard began converting power cruisers into fishing machines, and Pop is credited with the first proper fighting chair in 1933. Ernest Hemingway became a family friend in 1934 after bringing his boat Pilar in for work.
The breakthrough came after World War II. In 1947 the Rybovich sons launched Miss Chevy II, widely credited as the first modern sportfisherman — a purpose-built boat with a raised-deck convertible layout, aluminium outriggers and a fighting chair as standard. The distinctive “Rybovich sheer” profile from those early hulls still shapes how a sportfisher looks today. That is the pedigree behind the boat on this page: not a generic “fishing boat,” but a craft whose entire form was worked out on the Florida coast the Leonida Keys are modelled on. The ownable in-game version is unconfirmed; the vessel’s real history is genuine and specific.
