A living map
One of the clearest things to emerge from GTA 6's first trailer was that the world is meant to feel alive. Flamingos scatter, an alligator suns itself, dolphins break the surface offshore. Rockstar leaned into Florida's genuine status as one of the most biodiverse places in the United States — a state where subtropical wetland, coral reef, pine forest and dense city all sit within a short drive of each other.
That geography is what makes a region-by-region wildlife guide possible. The animals aren't scattered at random; they map onto real habitats, and those habitats map onto the areas Rockstar has shown — the Grassrivers wetland, the Leonida Keys, the coastline around Vice Beach, and the forested interior. Below, every species we track is grouped by where it would actually live.
On what's confirmed: the first trailer and official screenshots genuinely show or strongly imply a number of these animals, and a separate set turned up in the September 2022 development leak. Everything else is included because it fits Florida and fits the GTA 6 world — not because Rockstar has confirmed it. Each row says which is which, and links to the full species entry. Nothing here invents an animal that has no basis in either the footage or the real ecology of the region.
